Method

Soak the chestnuts in cold water over night. Remove the soaked chestnuts and rinse, then transfer to a clean saucepan. Cover with water and add the remaining ingredients to the pan, except the brandy.

Simmer on a low heat until the chestnuts are cooked and soft. When you are ready to serve, pour a tot of brandy into a serving glass and pour over the hot chestnut chocolate drink. Serve immediately.

TRADITIONALLY SERVED AFTER THE CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS OR NEW YEAR’S EVE MASS.
